Nakuru, Kenya

While in Nakuru, we stay at the Tumaini Cottages and Conference Center. In Swahili, tumaini means hope, and the Tumaini Mission Centre abounds in it.

January 12:  "Nakuru 3:16" rescue mission for street families empowers single mothers to be productive members of society through addiction rehabilitation, counseling, education, vocational training, and social/life-skills training.

January 12:  Medical clinic at Gioto.  Gioto is the Kikuyu word for "dump site." Located one mile from Nakuru's town center is a large landfill that is home to a large community of families living in extreme poverty.

The children of Gioto. Yes, they smile. They laugh. They play. And they teach us the most valuable lessons in life.

January 13:  Streets of Hope Ministry.

At Streets of Hope, boys who once lived on the streets now live and grow in community with one another.  They learn, worship and work together to build a better future for themselves.

January 8-11 and 14-15:  Dental clinic at Shabab,
the main church and campus.

Janaury 10-11 and 14-15:  Medical clinic at Shabab.

The line of patients at Shabab begins to build before we arrive each morning. Hundreds of Kenyans wait patiently for many, many hours to be seen.  We see approximately 500-600 patients each day.

While their parents wait in long lines, the children play with dedicated volunteers from our team.

The children at Shabab, too, are filled with peace, love, and joy.
